ABOUT 26 teachers at Buseko primary school in Kabwe are sharing toilets with 761 pupils due to inadequate ablution blocks at the school.

This came to light when Bwacha member of Parliament Sydney Mushanga donated over 3, 800 exercise books to the school last week.

School head teacher Roy Mukenga said the teachers had been sharing the ablution blocks with pupils because they did not have staff toilets.

Mr Mulenga also said the school did not have a playground and was currently using community grounds for its sporting activities.

And Mr. Mushanga assured the school management that the sanitation challenge would be addressed.

The Bwacha MP, who is also Minister of Central Province, urged the school management to apply to the Constituency Development Fund Committee (CDFC) for the construction of staff toilets.

“For now continue sharing the ablution blocks with pupils but we will soon work on the challenge after you have made an appeal through the CDFC because the constituency will soon receive the remaining K700, 000 CDF balance,” Mr. Mushanga said.

Speaking earlier, district education standards officer Joseph Chanda hoped challenges at the school would be resolved with help from the district education board secretary and the provincial administration.
