…As FAZ punish Lusaka Dynamos for using an ineligible player

THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) disciplinary committee has stripped Lusaka Dynamos of a point for using an ineligible player against Power Dynamos.

The Week One fixture played at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka ended 3-3 with the two teams sharing the points.

But according to the committee led by Joseph Jalasi, Power Dynamos were handed three points with a 2-0 result after their complaint against Dynamos was supported.

The ruling relegated Lusaka Dynamos to ninth position on the league table with eight points while Power Dynamos moved to fourth position on the log with 10 points, on par with Green Eagles.

Power however have a better goal difference, two goals better than Eagles who are on fifth position on the log.

Power Dynamos had lodged a complaint over the eligibility of Lusaka Dynamos player Kadima Tresor Kanyinda whom they alleged did not have a valid International Transfer Certificate (ITC).    Club vice president Ricky Mamfunda, in his complaint filed 24 hours after the match, stated that for any foreign player to have authority to play in another association (country), he needed to be cleared by FIFA through the Transfer Matching System.

Meanwhile, Power Dynamos head coach Danny Kabwe says his team can still win the league despite having started the 2017 MTN/FAZ super division on a slow note.

Having played six games in the league, the Copperbelt-based Super Division side has won only two games and lies on fourth position with 10 points.

But Kabwe said there were still a lot of games to be played in the league, noting that Power has only played six games and has eight points.

“Our target is to win the league and we still have a long way to go. We have more than 30 games to play and right now we have only played six games and when you look at the points we have compared to the league leaders, the difference is very minor,” Kabwe said.

The poor start in the Super Division by the 2011 league champions has raised concern from the fans with the club’s chief executive officer Ricky Mamfunda expressing displeasure with the team’s poor run.

Mamfunda urged the Dan Kabwe-led technical bench to improve on their tactics to end the poor run the club has been experiencing.

Kabwe however noted that there are still more games to be played in the league, adding that Power Dynamos was determined to end the league on a high note.

“Mr. Mafunda is the owner of Power and I get his concern though I have only heard of them from the papers because we haven’t communicated as I am traveling from Lusaka to the Copperbelt but we still have a long way to go,” Kabwe said

Power Dynamos will this weekend host Green Eagles in their quest to collect their third win of the 2017 soccer season.
