ZESCO ‘lights’ cholera fight

ZESCO LIMITED has focused its energies to assisting in the cholera cleanup campaign by providing five tipper trucks to the Ministry of Health to help in the exercise,   

ZESCO Director- Strategy and Corporate Services, Changala Nswana said the power utility firm in partnership with Sino- Hydro Company of China, decided to supplement government’s effort in the cleanup exercise.

“We have joined the fight against cholera because this epidemic affects everyone, and some of our workers reside in cholera-prone Townships and in line with the same we have instituted internal cleanup measures at all ZESCO work places,” explained the ZESCO chief.

He said the utility company has also spent about K700,000 for the provision of cleaning equipment for its workers in the company.

“The idea is to make our work place safe and clean and we have extended this to the Copperbelt and the rest of the country especially where we have a concentration of Zesco works,” he said.

ZESCO has also extended its hand to offer assistance to the local city councils in the country where the councils need assistance via its corporate social responsibility.
