MMD CONDEMNS UPND PRAYERS

MMD chairman for agriculture Chishala Chilufya says the United Party for National Development (UPND) should stop using the name of God in vain by calling for inter-denominational prayers for  following the release of Hakainde Hichilema because Zambians know that he committed a crime in Mongu.

Mr Chilufya told UPND to stop fooling God and Christians. In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Chilufya said UPND prayers did not make sense because they were praying for someone who committed a crime in Mongu.

He wondered in what context the prayers were held because only UPND members attended.

Mr Chilufya said the police did well to have stopped them from gathering last Friday because yesterday’s gathering was not genuine.

“What we should not forget is that HH committed a crime,” he said. Mr Chilufya said UPND and their leader had always publicly refused to attend national prayers but on Tuesday they agreed to attend UPND prayers.

He also wondered who was supposed to attend the prayers for Mr Hichilema and to which church motherbody did the conveners belong.

Mr Chilufya urged the UPND to tow the unitary line following the release of their leader as opposed to cheap politicking.

Meanwhile, Mr Chilufya said Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja should not be fired, adding that those calling for his dismissal were not making sense.

“We want all Zambians regardless of their political and regional affiliation to start respecting authority,” he said.
