UPND in prayer for 2021 polls

By ROGERS KALERO

WHOEVER plans to manipulate the 2021 general elections will have himself to blame, opposition UPND Copperbelt provincial chairman Elisha Matambo has warned.

Mr Matambo has therefore urged party members to commit the 2021general elections into God’s hands.

He added that the battle for 2021 elections was God’s battle and not anyone’s fight according and cited Ephesians 6: 11 – 12.

In his New Year’s message to the party members, Mr Matambo urged the party members to take up the whole armor of God that they may be able to withstand in the evil day.

“Whoever plans to play with and manipulate the 2021 general elections will have himself to blame. As UPND members, let us embark on prayers. Yes prayers to thank God for protecting President Hakainde Hichilema, his family and all of us.

“We need to petition God to cover Hichilema and all of us under the shadow of His wings as we enter the elections year 2021. To nullify all the evil plans of the enemy against Hichilema and against all the UPND members. To petition GOD to completely take over our fight and fight on our behalf,” Mr Matambo said.

Mr Matambo applauded all the UPND members for their resilience and support during the year 2020.

“The biggest opposition party is aware of the volatile and violent environment they are operating in owing to the dwindling political space,” he said

The UPND Provincial Chief also called on members to commit the current situation in the country to prayer.

“I wish to ask all the members of UPND on the Copperbelt to join hands in prayers from today Thursday at 22 hours until crossover into the New Year 2021,” Mr Matambo said.

Mr Matambo further declared the first week of January 2021 as a prayer and fasting period for members in the Province and all peace loving Zambians.

“The prayer and fasting period will run from Sunday 3rd January to Thursday 10th January, 2021 from 06:00 to 18:00. During the said prayers, members are expected to commit the 2021 general elections into God’s hands.
