THE resolution for 2017 by Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotion (OQBP is to build other three boxers into world champions, says operations manager Christopher Malunga.

Malunga said time had come to build other boxers besides Catherine Phiri and Charles Manyuchi.

He told the Daily Nation sports yesterday that the stable will pay attention to lifting the profiles of Alfred Muwowo, Rolita Muzeya and Barbra Banda while ensuring that Catherine maintained her belt and Manyuchi grabs the remaining titles.

Malunga said 2016 has been a successful year in which the stable won a good number of belts.

He said that OQBP was looking forward to doing even better in 2017 because the trio have proved to be world champions in-waiting adding that special attention will be given to them to actualise their dreams.

“Cathy is up there. What is remaining is for her to defend her championship or participate in unification fights but she has achieved what any other boxer can dream of,

“ For Manyuchi, we want him to go for WBC gold because he has established himself as one of the best boxers going by what he has achieved this year.

He paid tribute to government, sponsors, the media and the fans for being there when the stable and boxers needed them most.

He was optimistic that if they continued with the support they have continued rendering to the stable, OQBP and its boxers will continue giving Zambia good results.

Meanwhile, Malunga and Catherine today leave for the US ahead of the 54th WBC convention at which Catherine will be honoured.

The WBC has invited Zambia’s sensational female boxing icon to be part of the event which will run from 11-17th December in Florida at which the global body will honour her for her dedication to boxing and achievements.
