SO far the performance of the new dawn government of President Hakainde Hichilema is very pathetic, former Defence Minister George Mpombo has said.
The UPND came to power on a crest of mouth-watering promises which have not been fulfilled and the country remains on auto pilot,” Dr Mpombo said.
Dr Mpombo said it’s disappointing that after almost four months in power no economic direction has been provided by the government.
In an interview yesterday, Dr Mpombo said in addition, the foreign service remains in disarray with no appointment of new diplomats to replace those arbitrary recalled.
“Four months in power no provincial Commissioners of Police have been appointed. This is extremely baffling and does not portend well for the future,” he said.
Dr Mpombo said this sluggish perfomance will cost the country. He said the government has performed under par and was not inspiring.
He said the Indeni issue was another classic example of fumbling by the new dawn government.
Dr Mpombo said Zambians are regretting having elected an incompetent person. He said a lesson has been learnt and such a mistake will not be made.
